Partnership

PARTNERSHIP

Arazzeria Scassa been involved in joint projects and opportunities with public and private institutions for many years. Under the direction of Massimo Bilotta in particular, one of the most important objectives has been to organise and conduct educational projects aimed at creating new professional profiles pertaining to the world of tapestry.

The desire – also shared by Ugo Scassa in his time – is to provide training courses to allow not only a generational change but a real diffusion of the artistic culture related to tapestry in the long term. The mission is undoubtedly to collaborate with institutions for the realisation of events that have as protagonist the tapestry, its history, its creation and its future. Practically since its very beginning, the Arazzeria has collaborated with national and international teachers and scholars to carry out the numerous projects, in particular the study of tapestry and the history of 12th-century art together with the most significant developments of the new millennium. One of the most important art realities at a European level, the Arazzeria has long been a promoter of events dedicated to the dissemination of art history, considering this aspect an integral part of its role as a point of reference for the artistic world for over fifty years.

Arazzeria Scassa is in contact with many institutional partners – such as the Brera Academy in Milan – for the realisation of university courses dedicated to studying tapestry techniques, necessary not only for the creation of new works but also fundamental and obligatory for the proper restoration of the many ancient tapestries that museums and private individuals possess.

The course includes a practical learning pathway completed directly with the Asti atelier, under the guidance of people who work on the looms each day, with the opportunity to share in their experiences and get to know the world related to tapestry weaving directly from the most authoritative sources. The collaboration with the Brera Accademy marks an important step and a point of continuity with the new generations approaching this ancient know-how.

For Arazzeria Scassa, research is continuous. From one decade to the next, the fields of investigation and application have multiplied, to include real study operations with universities and research institutes collaborating in the realisation of various projects. Throughout the years, the Arazzeria has helped numerous students writing their theses, presented at several Italian universities, including La Sapienza in Rome and the University of Tuscia, allowing graduates to experience first-hand a shared research experience, in direct contact with the works themselves, at the heart of the history of Italian art of the last century.

The partnership activities of the Asti tapestry atelier involve companies and foundations for the realisation of projects developed abroad and in Italy, collaborating in the promotion of common objectives. This union can involve, for example, the concretisation of a new exhibition project able to involve the Arazzeria Scassa as a Collection and Art Archive. However, it must be said that the commissioning of new tapestries sometimes comes precisely from such encounters, with the aim of sharing a wealth of skills that are decidedly Italian. New creative projects with the foundations further generate a series of important achievements, promoting the formation of an artistic asset, supporting the activities of the Arazzeria whilst facilitating the creation of new woven masterpieces that will be the protagonists of future exhibitions.

Arazzeria Scassa has long participated in and collaborated with activities throughout Italy, closely overseeing certain projects throughout Piedmont and specifically work together with the associations that dedicate their time and energy to the spread of art history and culture. In fact, as a Cultural Association, Arazzeria Scassa is operative in various activities, with a view to establishing solid and effective cultural partnerships.

With these projects, we contribute extensive and consolidated experience at a national and international level as well as that same courage shown by Ugo Scassa, being the strength to always keep putting one’s self to the test, which characterised the launch of the tapestry atelier and by which it is still distinguished today.
